With an average traffic load of 16,000 vehicles per day, rising to 24,000 vehicles during the holiday period, it is important to take measures for maintenance.
In 2025, the Gotthard Tunnel will also be closed for 34 nights. The reason for this is cleaning and maintenance work. These are particularly important due to the approximately six million vehicles that pass through the tunnel annually and are carried out every year. The tunnel will not be closed on weekends, and for the nights it is closed, alternative routes are available.
