On Thursday, an avalanche caused damage at the Les Toules gallery on the A21 Great St. Bernard route. Although repair work was completed on Friday, rock clearing operations are still needed to reduce the risk of rockfall in the avalanche slope. This may take several days, which is why the A21 remains closed.
ASTRA is currently handling the safety and rock clearing measures on the avalanche slope, as the safe operation of the A21 cannot be guaranteed. There is still no date set for reopening.
