It’s time to move on again, and the journey takes me from the Alps back to the bustling city of Zurich. But before I arrive, I enjoy the scenic beauty of rural Switzerland. The drive leads me along Lake Brienz to Brienz, a charming village famous for its centuries-old woodcarving tradition. At the Jobin Swiss Woodcarving Centre, I dive into the history of this fascinating craft, which dates back to the 19th century. The intricate carvings and the passion with which this craft is practiced here are truly impressive.
After this cultural stop, I continue my journey and cross the Brünig Pass, offering fantastic views of Lake Lungern and Lake Sarnen. The Swiss landscape shows itself in its best light even during the final kilometers of my round trip.
Upon arriving in Zurich, I’m treated to a city tour. Together with my guide, I explore the famous Bahnhofstrasse, the historic Grossmünster, the picturesque Limmat river, and the Frauenmünster church. It’s fascinating how Zurich manages to combine tradition and modernity.
In the evening, I meet up with my fellow travelers at a cozy restaurant. Over a delicious dinner and a glass of wine, we toast to the shared experiences of this unforgettable trip. A perfect end to this eventful journey through Switzerland.
After two wonderful weeks in Switzerland, it’s time to head home. Instead of flying, like some others do, I’ve chosen the comfortable two-hour drive from Zurich to Freiburg.
But there’s one thing I haven’t told you yet: I almost forgot about the toll sticker – but luckily, during the trip preparations, I remembered just in time that you need a vignette for the highways in Switzerland. The digital vignette saved the day: quickly registered online, and it was immediately valid – it couldn’t be easier!
With the car, I start my journey, and as I drive the last few kilometers through the picturesque landscape, I reflect on the many unforgettable moments of this trip. From the majestic peaks of Stanserhorn to the enchanting streets of Gruyères, to the impressive panoramas of the Glacier Express – every moment was breathtaking.
The anticipation for the next tour is already building within me. After this impressive trip through Switzerland, I’m curious to see where I’ll go next. But one thing is certain: This tour definitely didn’t quench my wanderlust – it only made it stronger!
