The fifth day begins leisurely with a drive along the shores of Lake Geneva. Our destination: the international city of Geneva. Upon arrival, the famous Jet d’Eau immediately catches my eye, shooting high into the sky and standing as one of the city’s most iconic landmarks. Geneva has its own cosmopolitan atmosphere, and I stroll through the streets to admire the famous Flower Clock – a colorful work of art made of plants that displays the time and simultaneously symbolizes the precision of Swiss watchmaking.
After this exploration, I look forward to the next highlight of the day: a cruise on Lake Geneva. In first-class comfort, we glide across the deep blue water, surrounded by picturesque mountains and idyllic shores. I let my soul relax, enjoy the tranquility, and admire the landscape that continuously unfolds before my eyes. The fresh lake air and gentle waves provide perfect relaxation.
Back in Montreux, I have the evening at leisure. I leisurely stroll along the promenade, enjoy the last rays of sunshine, and eventually return satisfied to my hotel, the “Eden Palace Au Lac.” A quiet evening with a glass of wine perfectly rounds off the day.
It’s time to move on. Today’s journey takes me to the upper Rhône Valley, and I’m excited for new discoveries. Our first stop is Martigny, a charming town with a rich Roman history. The old amphitheater is particularly impressive, standing as a testament to times past. I stroll through the historic ruins and imagine how the Romans once held their games here.
From Martigny, we continue to Sion, a town dominated by two distinctive rocky peaks. On each of these peaks stands an imposing episcopal fortress, providing a majestic view from afar. I visit the cathedral and the Old Town Hall, allowing myself to be enchanted by the medieval atmosphere of the town.
In the afternoon, we take the cogwheel train to the car-free mountain village of Zermatt. The journey itself is an experience – the steep slopes and breathtaking scenery make the trip a true highlight. In the evening, a “Dine-Around Evening” is on the agenda. I have the difficult choice of several local restaurants and ultimately decide on a traditional fondue. With a steaming cheese fondue and a glass of wine, I enjoy the cozy atmosphere and end the day in Zermatt on a high note, before relaxing at my Resort Alex hotel.
